Budget vows to utilize remittance

KATHMANDU, May 29: Foreign employment aspirants should compulsorily have a bank account before leaving for abroad. The government introduced this provision in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2017-18.

Presenting the budget, Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara said migrant workers would use the same bank account they opened before going for foreign employment to send their savings to home. The provision is for officially keeping the record of remittance from foreign employment and encouraging migrant workers to spend their earnings in the productive sector including the ‘remit hydro’. The budget states that maximum utilisation of remittance will be stressed.

The budget pledges the conduct of skill enhancement training, distribution of resources to trained human resources to get engaged in income-generation programmes and an increase of access to employment through the implementation of employment and self-employment programs.

On the occasion, Minister Mahara said a ten-year master plan would be brought to end child labour. RSS
