Polls in Province 2 deferred in agreement with RJPN, claims Minister Shrestha

KAHTMANDU, June 16: Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Gopal Man Shrestha has claimed that the government on Thursday decided to defer the local level elections in Province 2 in agreement with the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) leaders.

“The decision has been taken in agreement with RJPN leaders. RJPN will participate in election,” assured Shrestha while talking to journalist Rishi Dhamal at a radio program Nepali Bahas.

Likewise, Pampha Bhusal, spokesperson of CPN (Maoist Center) talking to Dhamala agreed to the same.

The government on Thursday rescheduled the election in Province 2 for September 18. Meanwhile, the polling in the remaining provinces 1, 5 and 7 will be conducted as scheduled. However, the government has made some revisions in the poll-related calendar without affecting the June 28 polls date.
