KATHMANDU, June 20: The Supreme Court has asked the Election Commission to produce the original copy its decision to conduct re-voting in the Ward-19 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli on Tuesday issued the order during the hearing on the writ petition which demands resumption of vote counting in Bharapur.

Similarly, the SC has also ordered the defendants to submit the torn ballot papers and the files related to the case against Maoist cadres who reportedly torn the papers.

Advocates Shambhu Thapa, Hari Upreti and Tikaram Bhattarai had presented arguments on behalf of the petitioners whereas senior advocate Harihar Dahal had defended the Election Commission’s decision.

Gunjaman Bishwokarma, a CPN-UML candidate for a ward member in Bahartpur 19, had filed the writ petition at the Supreme Court demanding annulment of the EC’s decision to re-conduct voting and immediate resumption of vote counting in the Ward.
