Gradual improvement in weather

KATHMANDU, Aug 14: A gradual improvement has been seen in the weather condition with the monsoon which had remained active for the last five days.

The Weather Forecasting Division stated that cloudy condition and precipitation has subsided with the weakening monsoon. Meteorologist Shanti Kandel said that rain is forecast at one or two places of the eastern region and most places of the western region of the country.

Heavy rain occurred throughout the country in the last three days due to the influence of the moisture-laden wind that entered from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal with the monsoon becoming active.

The weather condition is improving since last night. However, rainfall will occur in many parts of the country including Kathmandu Valley.

The eastern part of the country is seeing partially cloudy conditions today while the western parts are seeing cloudy condition with precipitation. Light rain is expected in the Kathmandu Valley towards the afternoon.

Since monsoon phenomenon remained active on Sunday also, some places received heavy rains, the Division stated.

As per the latest information from the Division, Bhairahawa received the highest precipitation at 222 millimetres while Kathmandu received the lowest rainfal at three millimetres.

Similarly, Dhankuta received five millimetres rain, Taplejung seven millimetres, Simara 30 millimetres, Pokhara nine millimetres, Dang and Jumla 10 millimetres each, Nepalgunj 14 millimetres, Birendranagar 39 millimetres and Dhangadhi 16 millimetres rainfall.

The maximum temperature in Kathmandu today was 26 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature 19 degrees Celsius. RSS
