Gaura Parba carries Nepal’s special identity: PM Deuba

KATHMANDU, Aug 29: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that Gaura Parba is the special identity of Nepalis.

In a message to all Nepalis living at home and abroad, the prime minister, on the occasion of Gaura Parba being marked on Tuesday, said that “Nepal is an ample meeting point for multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious and multi-cultural characteristics. Language, culture, costumes and traditions are the features to exhibit the characteristics of the communities’ concerned.”

He also said that Gaura Parba marked since time immemorial is also the special identity of Nepali people.

PM Deuba has also wished for happiness, peace and prosperity on the occasion of Gaura Parba adding that this festival would further strengthen the social harmony and brotherhood among all Nepalis.

Gaura Festival is celebrated by the Hindu people from mid-western and far-western part of Nepal. On this day, women worship goddess Garui, the wife of Lord Shiva for their husbands’ health and long age.
