18,200 plus file candidacies for local elections of province No 2

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: The filing of nominations of candidacy for the upcoming local level election in Province No 2 has been over in Province No 2 Wednesday.

For the election being held at 136 local levels in eight districts of eastern Tarai, the candidates from diverse community including women, and Dalit, enthusiastically registered their candidacies for the elections of September 18, said Election Commission Spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal.

According to him, information about filing of 18,200 candidacies till 6:30 pm was received at EC, so complete information was awaited.

Although the time for the nomination was scheduled from 10 am to 5:00 pm, people were in queue till 4:00 pm before the office of the election officer.

The Joint Election Operation Centre (JEOC) stationed at EC received the information that the candidates were still in queue till evening before at the election office. RSS
