Works in progress to make Bharatpur Metropolitan City a model city: Minister Shah



CHITWAN, Sept 8: Minister for Urban Development Prabhu Shah has said that his Ministry has started works to develop Bharatpur Metropolitan City as a model one.

Speaking at the discussion program organized by Bharatpur Metropolitan City in Chitwan today, Minister Shah shared that a contract has been awarded to prepare Detailed Project Report (DPR) to make Bharatpur Metropolitan City as a smart city.

Also speaking at the meeting, Director General of the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction Shiva Hari Sharma further shared that the budget was already released for the feasibility study of Bhartapur to develop it as a smart city.

Likewise, parliamentarians Krishna Bhakta Pokharel and Santu Darai underscored the need to make a master plan for the development of Bharatpur.

Echoing with parliamentarians duo, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pusha Kamal Dahal underlined the need to design forward-looking master plan for development of the local units.

Stating that the new constitution would be brought into effect effectively following the provincial and House of Representatives’ elections, Dahal urged the political leadership to lay focus on development and economic prosperity.

Pointing out the need to establish sister-city relation between our cities and the cities of other countries, he pressed for developing Bharatpur as a hub for education, health and connectivity.

Renu Dahal, daughter of the party’s Chairperson and former Prime Minister Dahal, is the mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City. She was elected to the post from the CPN (MC) seat. RSS
