SC orders govt to show cause on removing Sajha Publication’s Sharma

KATHMANDU, Oct 10: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday issued a show-cause order in the name of the government over the removal of Sajha Publications Chairperson and General Manager Dolendra Prasad Sharma.

Sharma had registered a writ petition at the apex court on Sunday seeking reversal of his removal before his tenure. He has argued that he was relieved of his post without giving him a single opportunity for clarification.

Responding to Sharma’s petition, a single bench of justice Deepak Raj Joshi ordered the government to show the cause behind the removal of Sharma from the post.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers on 24 September had decided to sack Sharma from the position on charges of corruption and irregularities.

Sharma has been accused of making appointments to those close to political leaders and media persons, not carrying out audit, not maintaining annual incomes and book publications records, allowing private publishers to use Sajha logo and transferring Rs 5 million from Sajha to the GM’s account.
