Govt to forward study process for operation of metro rail in Kathmandu
KATHMANDU, Nov 13: The government has decided to forward study process for the operation of metro rail in the Kathmandu Valley.
A meeting held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister and Chairman of Investment Board Nepal, Sher Bahadur Deuba at the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singh Durbar on Monday decided to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the operation of metro rail in the valley.
The feasibility study report prepared by the National Planning Commission (NPC) has mentioned that out of two railways in Kathmandu Valley for the operation of metro rail, one would be operated by the Department of Railways and another by the Investment Board.
Chief Executive Officer of Investment Board Nepal, Maha Prasad Adhikari, said that the meeting directed the bodies concerned to forward the DPR of the railway said to be forwarded by the Investment Board.
Similarly, the meeting also decided to extend the deadline for financial management of Upper Karnali Hydropower Project by one year and Arun III hydropower project by six months, he added.
Present on the occasion were Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister, Kamal Thapa, and Finance Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki. RSS
