Dr KC ends hunger strike

KATHMANDU, Jan 13: Dr Govinda KC has ended his 14th hunger strike at 10:00 am today following a five-point agreement with the government Friday night. KC drank juice offered by a cobbler to break his hunger strike at TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj.

Dr KC broke his strike after the agreement reached with a government team led by Health Minister Deepak Bohara.

The agreement includes forming a recommendation committee to give a complete shape to Medical Education Commission within a week, giving continuity to the appointment of IoM Dean Dr Jagdish Prasad Agrawal, Call a Tribhuvan University senate meeting to take necessary steps to return the rights and power of IoM and Pass necessary budget for reform plans of Teaching Hospital such as infrastructure development, human resource management, public service.

Dr KC had begun his hunger strike demanding the resignation of the Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli.

Talking to media persons, Dr KC warned that he would start yet another hunger strike if CJ Parajuli does not resign.
