NA election code of conduct into effect from today

KATHMANDU, Jan 26: The election code of conduct for the National Assembly (NA) election scheduled for February 7 has come into effect from today.

The election code of conduct is applicable to the government, ministers, provincial and local government officials, public corporations and their officials, security agencies, officials to be deployed for the polls, political parties and their sister organizations, candidates, people holding public positions, poll monitors and observers and private and government media, according to the EC spokesperson Nawajar Dhakal.

A total of 83 candidates have filed nominations for the NA election for 56 seats. Of them, 17 candidates have been elected unanimously. Three will be nominated by the President.
