ICC WLC Division Two: Nepal defeats UAE by 4 wickets
KATHMANDU, Feb 11: Nepal has defeated the United Arab Emirates by 4 wickets in the ICC World Cricket League Division Two match on Sunday.
In the match played at the United ground in Windhock, Namibia, Nepal won the toss and decided to field first. The Nepali bowlers then limited the UAE to a total of 114 runs at the loss of all wickets in 31 overs. The match was reduced to 34 overs each due to damp outfield.
Shaiman Anwar top scored for the UAE with 30 runs. For Nepal, Sompal Kami took 4 wickets while Sandip Lamichhane took three and Captain Paras Khadka took two wickets.
In reply, Nepal achieved the victory target of 115 runs in 28.5 overs at the loss of 6 wickets. Nepali captain Khadka top-scored with 51 runs, including 6 sixes and 2 fours. Arif Sheikh scored 16 runs while Rohit Kumar Poudel and Sompal Kami remained undefeated with 12 and 10 runs respectively.
The win today keeps Nepal in the hunt for a place in the World Cup qualifiers.
