Different DoBs in my documents due to technical error, says Dr KC

KATHMANDU, Feb 21: Senior orthopaedic surgeon of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), Prof Dr Govinda KC on Wednesday confessed that his date of birth in citizenship and SLC certificate are different due to technical fault.

Organizing a press conference at TUTH, following the accusations that he had different date of births in his documents, Dr KC admitted that his date of birth in his citizenship is October 12, 1956 while his it is February 6, 1957 in his SLC certificate.

He said that he was ready to resign from his duty and cooperate in investigation if needed and challenged Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli to publicize his documents as well. KC, who has been long advocating for reforms in medical sector, reiterated that he would continue his fight against CJ Parajuli claiming he was corrupt and mafia-don.

The senior orthopaedic surgeon, earlier in January, had began his 14th fast-unto-death demanding resignation of CJ Parajuli following the Supreme Court’s order to reinstate Dr Shashi Sharma as the dean at Institute of Medicine (IoM).

He has also accused the CJ of being corrupt and having links with medical mafia while demanding a probe into the conduct.

Later, he was arrested while staging hunger strike after a single bench of Justice Dambar Bahadur Shahi directed the Home Ministry to produce Dr KC at the court after Apex Court section officer Netra Bandhu Poudel lodged a contempt of court case against Dr KC.

Dr KC, in a statement at the court, had also rejected the contempt charge and had accused CJ Parajuli of defying the dignity of judiciary.

To justify his accusation, Dr KC had accused Parajuli of misleading the judiciary and giving space to corruption by deciding the cases in favor of Chudamani Sharma, Gopal Khadka and Ncell.

He had also blamed Parajuli of possessing two certificates with different date of births with the intention to stay in office longer. He also questioned Parajuli if he bore any real School Leaving Certificates and called for disclosure of original documents.

Parajuli was also accused assuming his position at the court illegally, acquitting former CIAA Lokman Singh Karki for the appointment of a relative as legal advisor at the anti graft body, giving millions of tax waiver to five-star hotels operating casinos, favoring Nahakul Subedi by giving him three major promotions within six months and having connection with medical mafia. Dr KC had demanded a probe against CJ Parajuli.
