KATHMANDU, March 11: Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli has said that he became prime minister to serve the country.

Addressing a parliament meeting on Sunday before taking vote of confidence, Prime Minister Oli said, “I have become the prime minister not to become the prime minister, but to serve the country and to make the country.”

“I have become the prime minister to develop the country, to meet the people’s aspiration of progress, development and prosperity.”

Prime Minister Oli also expressed his commitment to make the country free from corruption during his tenure. He said, “I will not indulge in corruption nor will I endure it.”

“This government will give good governance to the country. The government will be a protector of sovereignty, unity and democracy,” he added.

Oli also asked the main opposition Nepali Congress to support him during the vote of confidence stating that NC had no reason for not to support him.

“There is every reason to vote. The practice of giving the vote of confidence from opposition has already started. In Province 2, we supported from opposition.”

“It is my request to the opposition NC to give vote of confidence to me,” he added.
