US-Bangla air crash sad and serious incident: PM Oli
KATHMANDU, March 16: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the Nepal Government has taken the March 12 fatal crash at Tribhuvan International Airport involving the US-Bangla airplane with 71 people including crew members on board as a sad and serious incident.
Giving a statement of public importance in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Friday, the Prime Minister extended emotional tributes to those killed in the unexpected and deadly crash, wishing for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The US –Bangla passenger airplane en route to Kathmandu from Dhaka of Bangladesh crashed on landing, leaving a total of 51 people (Nepali, Bangladeshi and one Chinese) dead and remaining 20 injured.
“Nepal, Bangladesh and China have been deeply saddened by the incident,” he said, thanking all those who joined hands in the rescue and relief efforts and medical treatment of the injured, following the crash.
Stating that he had immediately visited the incident site following the crash to instruct authorities concerned to leave no stone unturned in the rescue and relief works, and had telephone talks with his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina, assuring her of leaving no stone unturned in the treatment of the Bangladeshi nationals.
The Council of Ministers has already formed a probe commission to look into the matter and further works would be taken on the basis of the report to be given by the same commission, according to him.
He went on to say that the government was doing its best to complete the post-mortem examinations of the mortal remains of the dead and hand over the bodies to their relatives as soon as possible.
SPECIAL PROPOSAL PASSED
After the Prime Minister’s statement, the meeting of the House of Representatives passed a special proposal presented by Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara expressing profound sorrow over the death of 51 passengers, including 22 Nepalis, 28 Bangladesi nationals (the member of the crew included) and one Chinese national killed in US-Bangla Air plane crash.
Twenty people injured in the plane crash and they are receiving medical treatment.
The special proposal prays for the eternal peace to the departed souls and extends heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved families. It also wishes for the speedy recovery of those injured in the tragic incident.
The meeting observed a minutes’ silence in memory of those killed in the mishap. RSS
