Kalanki underpass

KATHMANDU, May 23: Country’s first ‘underpass’ route in Kalanki is likely to come into operation by the last week of coming June. The under-construction underpass that falls under the ongoing Koteshwor-Balkhu Bridge-Kalanki Ring Road Reform Project has neared the final phase.

The project is supported by the Government of China. The 800-meter long structure with four lanes is taken as historic in infrastructure development in the country.

Finishing works on Kalanki-Khasibazar section (400 meters) have been already completed.

The project is awaiting the completion of the finishing of remaining 400-meter Kalanki-Bafal section to handover it the authority concerned, Project chief Prakash Bhandari said.

Likewise, works to widen the 10.4 kilometers Koteshwor-Balkhu Bridge-Kalanki road from four lanes to eight lanes have reached final phase with around 90 percent progress.
