NC urges govt to revoke its decision to rescind political appointments
KATHMANDU, July 6: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has advised the government to withdraw the recent decision of the Council of Ministers to revoke decisions about political appointments made by the erstwhile government led by party president Sher Bahadur Deuba.
The Cabinet meeting last Wednesday decided to cancel political appointments dating back to the Deuba government.
Demanding a time on the onset of a meeting of the National Assembly (NA) today, party lawmaker Jitendra Narayan Dev said the government activities seemed capable of triggering the politics of confrontation with the main opposition. He went on to say that such move was not a nice gesture for democracy, urging the incumbent government headed by Nepal Communist Party (NCP) not to rescind political appointments made by the Deuba government just for ‘political revenge’.
He took the moment to call on the government to memorize the culture of cooperation promoted by Pushpalal Shrestha and Madan Bhandari, the veteran communist leaders, and to give up arrogance and overcome the problem of pride, adding that the politics of confrontation would do good for none else. RSS
