Emphasis on implementation of laws for women’s rights

KATHMANDU, Aug 3: Spokesperson of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Narayan Kaji Shrestha stated that the rights of the women ensured by the Constitution and laws should be effectively implemented.

At an interaction organized by Inter-Party Women Alliance on Thursday, Shrestha mentioned that the new Constitution has ensured many provisions in regard to proportional inclusion of women’s rights compared to the previous constitutions.

Leader Shrestha said that women’s inclusion has not increased as expected in country’s political sector as patriarchic mindset has dominated the political leadership in political parties.

He added that all should work to implement the provision of the women’s rights adding that only commitment does not suffice.

Also speaking at the same program, spokesperson of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal Keshav Jha said that as there is always a distance between the ruler and the ruled and added that the ruling side shows different treatment towards women’s rights.

Likewise, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal leader and lawmaker Pramila Yadav, spokesperson of CPN (ML) Kumar Belbase and leader of Nepal Communist Party Shashi Shrestha among others stressed the need for ensuring participation of women in different mechanisms of the state. RSS
