PM assures of solution to Nepal-India trade problem

Oli

KATHMANDU, Aug 4: Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli said the problem on Nepal-India trade issues would be addressed soon.

During an interaction organized by the Chamber of Morang Industries at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar on Saturday the Prime Minister said the government was sending a joint-secretarial team from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply to India to seek the solution to the issue.

According to him, the issue will be presented before his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi who is arriving here to participate in the upcoming BIMSTEC Summit scheduled in Nepal. “We will put the issue before the heads of the governments in the Summit collectively and from the personal level,” he ensured.

He was for the working together of industrialists and the government to transform the identity of Nepal. “The country needs to be made capable of exports ensuring prosperity and modernity,” the PM stressed.

Moreover, he insisted on the need of intervening in country’s ballooning trade deficit, bringing the trade trend to a balance and changing the entire economic situation. “We are advocating economic transformation, but have not caught a path towards that end,” he said, adding that joint efforts between the government and business community were necessary to determine the course.

Stability in the nation was the aspiration of the people, he said, pledging to work as per the people’s expectation. RSS
