PM Oli condemns bomb attack in Jammu and Kashmir

KATHMANDU, Feb 15: Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli has condemned the Thursday’s bomb attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which killed at least 40 Indian paramilitary police.

The bomber had used a vehicle packed with explosives to ram into a convoy of India’s security forces. It is the deadliest militant attack on Indian forces in Kashmir since the insurgency against Indian rule began in 1989.

PM Oli telephoned Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and condemned the terrorist attack. In a tweet on Thursday evening, PM Oli also conveyed ‘heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims’.

Likewise, the government has also strongly condemned the attack. “It extends heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims as well as the Government and people of India, and wishes speedy recovery of those injured, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press statement.

In line with its principled position, Nepal unequivocally condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and believes that such heinous acts of terrorism cannot be justified on any ground, read the statement.

The attack has been condemned around the world, including by the US and the UN Secretary General.
