Police conduct raid in Biplav cadre’s house, seize weapons

KATHMANDU, March 7: Police have conducted a raid in the house of a cadre of Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) led by Netra Bikram Chanda ‘Biplav’ on Thursday.

A joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force had reached the house of CPN cadre Durga Bahadur Roka in Turuntapur of Sivaraj Municipality, Kapilvasty early morning to conduct a raid. Roka was injured when the police opened fire at him after he tried to flee. He sustained injuries on his leg and is undergoing treatment at Lumbini Zonal hospital, Butwal, according to SP Achyutam Pudasaini.

The police seized two sub-machine guns, 69 rounds of bullets and three magazines, a Chinese-made pistol and three rounds of bullets, according to police.

Also, 129 rounds of bullets of 5.56 caliber for M16 gun, wires and one remote control electric cables and materials used in making explosives were also found during the raid.

The police have launched crackdown on Biplav cadres after the party took responsibility of the multiple bomb blasts targeting 15 Ncell towers across the country including improvised explosive device (IED) explosion at Ncell headquarters in Nakhhu, Lalitpur on February 22 evening killing one and injuring two people.
