Biplav calls for nationwide shutdown on June 25 (With press release)

KATHMANDU, June 21: Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has called for a nationwide strike on June 25 (Ashad 10).

The CPN issuing a press release Friday stated that the nationwide protest has been called to protest the killing of its cadre and district in-charge Kumar Poudel. Poudel was killed in a cross-firing at Lalbandi Municipality-1 in Sarlahi district on Thursday.

According to the police, four cadres of Biplav group on two motorcycles opened fire at police while the police were chasing them. The police in self-defense fired at them. Poudel was shot and killed on the spot while three others fled the scene.

Through the press release, the CPN has declared Poudel martyrs and vowed to take revenge.

The CPN has also announced a series of struggle programs against the killing of Paudel from June 22. According to the release, the outlawed outfit will hold publicity programs on June 22, assembly and door-to-door programs on June 23, torch rally on June 24 and nationwide shutdown on June 25.
