Nepal Telecom expands 4G network in 59 cities of 36 districts

KATHMANDU, Oct 2: Nepal Telecom (NT), the government-owned telecom operator, expanded its 4G network service in 59 cities of 36 districts, promising to deliver high-speed data service to people before Dashain.

Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli inaugurated the launch of the NT 4G service through a live video conference on Wednesday.

First launched on Poush 17, 2073 from Kathmandu and Pokhara, the NT 4G service now expands to all the major cities of all seven provinces.

On February, the NT had signed an agreement with two Chinese companies viz CCSI, Hong Kong for RAN Network and ZTE for Core Network for expanding their 4G network across the country within a year.

With the expansion of the 4G coverage, the 4G network will be available in Bhimdatta, Jhalari Pipladi, Attariya, Dhangadi, Chaumala, Masuriya, Sukkhad, Lamki, Tikapur, Surkhet, Guleriya, Kohalpur, Nepalgunj, Ghorahi, Lamahi, Tulsipur, Beni, Kusma, Baglung, Tansen, Lumbini, Bhairahwa, Mangalapur, Butwal, Murgiya, Sunwal, Devdaha, Parasi, Bardaghat, Bharatpur, Tandi, Sauraha, Dhading, Bidur, Dhunche, Banepa, Dhulikhel, Panauti, Hetauda, Simara, Birgunj, Kalaiya, Charikot, Manthali, Sindhupalchowk, Gaur, Malangwa, Jaleshwor, Janakpur, Dhankuta, Dharan, Itahari, Inaruwa, Biratnagar, Damak, Birtamod, Chandragadi, Besisahar and Bhardaha.

4G covered districts: Dhankuta, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Bara, Chitwan, Dhading, Dhanusha, Dholakha, Kavrepalanchowk, Mahottari, Makwanpur, Nuwakot, Parsa, Ramechap, Rasuwa, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Sindhuli, Baglung, Kapilbastu, Myagdi, Nawalparasi, Palpa, Parbat, Rupandehi, Banke, Bardiya, Dang, Surkhet, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Tanahu, Mustang, Lamjung and Saptari.
