PHC unanimously endorses Nirala as Judicial Council member

KATHMANDU, Jan 5: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) has unanimously endorsed senior advocate Laxmi Bahadur Nirala as the Judicial Council member on Sunday.

A meeting of the committee held today approved his nomination to the post. Nirala had served as the Attorney General from December 2005 to April 2006 during King Gyanendra’s direct rule.

The government had recommended his name for the position on December 24.

Nirala will replace Padam Prasad Baidik who resigned in December last year.
