International Seminar on Self-defense from Jan 22 to 30
KATHMANDU, Jan 17: The second International Seminar on Self-defense is set to be held in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Janakpur from January 22 to 30.
Self-defense officials and grandmasters from the United States and Poland will participate in the eight-day seminar, according to Nepal Self Defense Association chair D B Ranapal.
The seminar is being organized with the objective to discuss the importance and necessity of self-defense training, to conduct training in all 77 districts by producing self-defense trainers, empower voice against violence, cooperate in tourism promotion and help the country bring medals in international sports competitions, according to the organizers.
According to Association Vice-chair Sanju Maharjan, the program also aims to empower women, both athletes and non-athletes, through self-defense training.
She further added that the association has formed committees in 40 districts and distributed instruments related to self-defense to 29,000 people.
The seminar is being organized at an estimated budget of Rs 2,000,000.
