Man throws shoe at Prachanda
KATHMANDU, March 1: A man threw a shoe at Nepal Communist Party Executive Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Sunday.
Dahal was participating in a function of Bharat Mohan Memorial Academy at the City Hall in the capital when a participant hurled a shoe targeting him.
However, the shoe did not hit Dahal, according to eyewitnesses.
The attacker has been identified as Ratan Tiruwa, 22, of Jumla.
The police have detained Tiruwa.
This is not the first time Dahal has been attacked in public.
In November 2012, a former supporter of Maoist Padam Kunwar had slapped Dahal in his face smashing his glasses at a tea-reception in the capital.
Dahal’s supporters had mobbed the attacker and rained blow to his face and head before the police detained him drenched in blood.
