Fourth COVID-19 case confirmed in Nepal

KATHMANDU, March 27: A man, who recently returned from Dubai, has tested positive for coronavirus, confirmed Health and Population Ministry Spokesperson Bikash Devkota.

The 34-year-old man is undergoing treatment at the Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi.

He was admitted to the hospital on March 24 after he showed symptoms of COVID-19 disease.

“The National Public Health Laboratory has confirmed one more case today,” Devkota said.

This is the fourth confirmed case in Nepal and the first outside the valley.

Two days ago, the Health Ministry had confirmed the country’s third case after a 32-year-old man from Dhading who had returned to Kathmandu on March 19 tested positive for the virus.

On March 23, a 19-year-old girl who had landed in Kathmandu on March 17 had tested positive.

Both the patients are receiving treatment at the Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Teku.

Earlier on Jan 24, a student from Wuhan, who had come to Nepal on a vacation, had tested positive for the virus. He recovered.
