Virus death toll climbs to five in Nepal

LALITPUR, May 28: The death toll from the novel coronavirus has climbed to five in Nepal after a man died on Wednesday evening.

A 56-year-old male from Lalitpur Metropolitan-22 died at KIST Medical College Teaching Hospital in Gwarkho, said SSP Tek Bahadur Rai.

His nasal and throat swab samples were tested positive at the National Public Health Laboratory, according to Lalitpur District Health Office Chief Khageswor Gelal.

He was also suffering from liver disease.

The Ministry of Health and Population is yet to officially confirm the death.

Nepal has confirmed 886 positive cases so far. Of them, 142 are males and 41 are females.

A total of 183 patients have recovered.
