Reports of removing Pashupati main priest baseless

Kathmandu, 16th July 2020: The news report of efforts being made to remove the current Bhatta or the main priests of Pashupatinath temple is baseless, says the Pashupati Area Development Trust.

Issuing a statement here today, PADT member-secretary Dr Pradip Dhakal has said that the Government of Nepal, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation or the Trust have not made any plan to remove the Bhattas.

“It is just a rumour created by forces working to foil the age-old close religious, spiritual, social and cultural relations between Nepal and India at the people’s level,” reads the statement while appealing all to not go by such misleading
