381 new cases of COVID-19 reported in country
Kathmandu, Aug 5 : A total of 381 fresh cases of COVID-19 has been recorded across the country today. Among the 6,359 new PCR test conducted in the last 24 hours, 381 persons were found to have contracted the flu-like infection, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.
In the routine press conference by the Ministry here today, spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam shared that the number of active cases stands at 6,174.
Similarly, altogether 9,925 persons have been kept in various quarantine facilities across the country. A total of 130 infected ones were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours taking the tally of recovered ones to 15,156.
Likewise, spokesperson Gautam informed that 1.4 per cent of the total population in the country were put to PCR test so far.
Districts like Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari and Kailali recorded over 500 actively infected ones. In the last 24 hours, 57 new cases were reported from Kathmandu and five from Lalitpur.
Furthermore, 60 persons have died of the deadly infection so far in the country, according to Dr Gautam. The death of 19-year-old girl and 46-year-old man, both from Parsa district, takes the number of causalities from the coronavirus to 60.
Among the 77 districts in the country, there are presently no active case of COVID-19 in seven districts namely Khotang, Dhankuta, Sankhuwasabha, Manang, Mustang and Rukum West so far, the Ministry said.RSS
