Special initiative to resolve problems of landless squatters: PM Dahal
Kathmandu, Aug 16: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the government would take special initiative to resolve the problems faced by the landless people.
Receiving a memorandum submitted by CPN Maoist (Revolutionary) led by Mohan Baidya on Tuesday, PM Dahal said, “The problems faced by landless squatters are one of the big problems in the country. It is quite sensitive too. Government is effortful to resolve the problems.”
According to him, it was quite illogical to remove squatters without ensuring alternative in this monsoon. For this, the government has directed the concerned bodies to take appropriate measures.
The Baidya-led delegation demanded that the government not remove the landless squatters without guaranteeing alternative shelters, but provide prior notice about their removal, respect their rights with the amenities of drinking water, electricity, education.
They also advocated for the immediate distribution of identity cards to them and protection of their crops. RSS
