NEPALGUNJ: CPN UML leader K P Oli has ridiculed the UCPN Maoist proposal to form government in the leadership of an independent personality.

The flamboyant UML leader, who is known for his satire, claimed that the forming the much hyped national consensus government in Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala is the best option to resolve political deadlock.

Stating that only a neutral and matured politician like the NC President is capable to deliver the nation from the transition, Oli said that a government formed by undermining political parties cannot deliver political solutions.

Extending the argument further, Oli said that even if political parties don’t agree on Sushil’s candidacy, then NC should provide another candidate for the stint.

Speaking at a program organized by Press Chautari refuted the UCPN Maoist claims that the opposition parties were hindering the consensus formation process to avert general elections and asserted that the latter were themselves afraid of polls.

He reiterated his stance that the CA elections cannot be held in the leadership of the incumbent Bhattarai led government and ruled out the possibility of participating in the government stating that it would be mean ‘surrender-ism’ for the opposition parties.

KATHMANDU: A senior CPN UML leader has claimed that some ‘so-called intellectuals’ and foreigners have been inciting confrontation between various political forces in Nepal.

K P Oli, who has been often noted for his bold statements and criticism, this time came down heavily upon these intellectuals and foreigners without pointing to any of them in particular.

He claimed that the recent confrontation between political parties has been a direct result of increasing foreign interventions in Nepal’s transitional fluid politics and claimed that the UCPN Maoist government has been manuvering these foreign elements in Nepal.

Referring to the ongoing confrontation between rights activists, western nations and the government over the prosecution of war crimes, Oli opined that the international forces were playing in Nepal by using the human rights card and added that some Nepali so called intellectuals were aiding these forces.

Accusing the Maoists of deviating from their pledges time and again, he claimed that PM Bhattarai’s lust for power was hindering the stabilisation of politics in the country.

Speaking in a party program organised in the Eastern region, Oli asserted that all political parties should come together and fight against the foreign interventions.

KATHMANDU:  CPN-UML leader KP Sharma Oli has said that the step President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has taken for formation of national consensus government was laudable. Now, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai must abandon Baluwatar, he argued.

Inaugurating the 8th Statute Conference of the Youth Association, party’s sister wing, in the capital on Friday, leader Oli said the insistence of PM Bhattarai to stick to power was childish. Present PM can not appoint any minister and administer him oath of office, he argued.

He further said the Youth Association needs to intensify pressure programmes to give a political outlet to the country.

On the occasion, Association Chairman Mahesh Basnet said it was present need to form a consensus government to hold election. So, the PM must resign, he demanded.

He wondered why the government did not create conducive atmosphere to utilizing remittance in the productive sector. Almost 85 per cent remittance is being used in the unproductive sectors, he added.

Party Secretary Shankar Pokhrel, Valley In-Charge Krishna Gopal Shrestha, politburo member Pashupati Chaulagain and other expressed their views at the programme.

As many as 513 representatives from across the country are taking part in the two-day conference. RSS
