KATHMANDU, Oct 31: Nepali Congress unveiled its election manifesto on Tuesday. The election manifesto has stated to make the nation prosperous in the next ten years.

Nepali Congress President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Ramchandra Poudel, general secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala and manifesto drafting committee coordinator Mahesh Acharya while speaking at a program organized to make the manifesto public on Tuesday, opined for leading the nation towards economic prosperity.

The manifesto basically highlights to eradicate poverty through infrastructure, hydropower, and agriculture and tourism development. It also pledges to lessen poverty to three per cent from 21 per cent by generating 15,000 megawatt energy.

It has forwarded an ambitious plan to enlarge the size of national economy up to Rs 10 trillion in 10 years. It has further expected to welcome foreign investment to investment in productive sectors.

The manifesto has stated to manage pension to poor people and to generate employment to 500,000 youths aimed at lessening the burning unemployment condition in the country. Similarly, the NC manifesto has stated to manage health insurance to each Nepali so as to increase life expectancy to 77 from the current 71 years.

The manifesto has incorporated that more than 1,000 kilometres of four-six lane fast track road, more than 500 kms of railway line and more than 50,000 km black topped road would be linked with National Network.

Similarly, 32,000 tourists would be brought to Nepal every year after construction of five international airports and more than five million Nepalis would get employment in a direct and indirect manner from tourism industry.

Likewise, the country would be self-dependent on food grain, meat and vegetable within 10 years and 1.8 million hectare of land of Tarai-Madhes and hilly areas would get all-season irrigation facility, reads the manifesto. All people would get access to mobile phone and internet while every Nepali citizen above 16 years will have a bank account.

The manifesto also incorporated the various issues including all new buildings and houses would be mandatorily quake-resistant and 45 per cent of area of the country would be covered by forest. RSS

KATHMANDU, Oct 31: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has claimed the NC victory in the upcoming elections was a must for the stability of democracy and economic progress.

Speaking at a ceremony organized to unveil the Nepali Congress manifesto for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies scheduled for two rounds on November 26 and December 7, the NC president said the democracy was restored in the country under the NC leadership. On the occasion, he unveiled the party’s election manifesto.

Under the party’s leadership, big but historic achievements had been possible in the country since 1950 and its victory in the nearing elections was essential to further ‘develop’ the country, he asserted.

“Personal freedom and human rights will be curtailed and an atmosphere of fear and terror will be hovering over if there is the Communist rule,” he said, adding that democracy was a must to make the people rulers and the only the Nepali Congress is capable of safeguarding democracy and uniting the mountain, hill and the Madesh together.

According to him, the NC victory in the elections is essential to keep the national unity intact and win the trust from the national and international communities.

Also speaking on the occasion, NC senior leader Ramchandra Poudel said the party, through its election manifesto, had expressed commitment towards attaining economic prosperity in the country in the aftermath of management of political transition through the promulgation of the constitution.

Those political parties who were together with the NC while drafting and promulgating the constitution were now heading towards the totalitarianism, he complained, adding that the party would never allow such attempts to become successful.

Likewise, party general secretary Dr Shashank Koirala viewed that it was really a challenge for the party to see the communist parties coming together, urging the entire party leaders and cadres to go in the elections unitedly to face such challenge successfully.

Party leader and manifesto preparation committee coordinator Mahesh Acharya insisted on the need of the party’s win in the upcoming elections to what he claimed get political stability, stringer democracy and prosperous Nepal. RSS

KATHMANDU, Oct 30: The ruling party, Nepali Congress is unveiling its election manifesto for upcoming elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies focusing on social welfare and security.

The manifesto states that the country has entered into a new era of renaissance of social, economic and political issues.

Expressing commitment for the stability and development in the country, the manifesto has incorporated various issues including protection of democracy, social justice, economic prosperity, integrated social security, good governance and implementation of federalism, said member of Manifesto Preparation Committee, Dr Jagadish Chandra Pokharel.

The manifesto has also included various issues including details of development in the country under the leadership of NC in 25 years including easy access to schools and colleges, expansion of black topped road and remarkable increase in the number of health posts and toilets.

The party has presented different points along with ‘NC’s development concept and goal’ in the manifesto including a plan of operating Kathmandu-Madhes express way as well as eradicating starvation and corruption.

Likewise, CPN-UML has been described as an obstacle to national unity and the CPN-MC as an opportunist party in the manifesto. The party has also claimed in its election manifesto that the communist alliance had put the achievements of the new constitution, economic progress, national unity and social goodwill at risk. The alliance between UML and CPN-MC is aimed at capturing state power and establishing communism.

Meanwhile, welcoming the dialogue and partnership with the Madhesh-centric parties, the NC has noted that it would forge reliable alliance with the RPP and RPP-D. The party has pledged to make notable increment in the social security allowance for elderly citizens, constructing an elderly citizen service ashram in every local level and providing all services free including food and housing.

Expressing the determination to free the society and state of corruption, the party has also promised to make the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority and the National Vigilance Centre effective. The party is making its manifesto public amid a special program on Tuesday.
