Government rescued 11 Nepalis from Iraq



Kahtmandu.The government has rescued 11 Nepali nationals stranded in Iraq due to the adverse security situation.
They were rescued from Kurdistan province and from Kirkut and Tikrit cities of Iraq and are scheduled to land in the capital tonight, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Those rescued include Santosh Lamichhane of Kaski, Prakash Biswakarma of Chitwan, Dhan Bahadur BK of Rukum, Jit Bahadur Tamang of Okhaldhunga, Top Bahadur Basnet and Anil Kumar Chaudhary of Dang, Mohan Kumar Basnet of Morang, Prakash Giri of Khotang, Bishnu Bahadur Basnet of Ramechap and Subash Madi and Indra Kumar Limbu of Dhankuta.
It may be noted that the government had deputed Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Arjun Kant Mainali to rescue the Nepalis stranded due to the armed struggle in various parts of Iraq. Likewise, Deputy Chief of the Nepali Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan Tirtha Raj Aryal was also deputed to Iraq for the same purpose.
Though the Government has officially banned Nepalis from going for employment in Iraq, many Nepali nationals are found working in the conflict-ridden country after flying out of India and other countries.
