Yadav claims CA has done ‘nothing’ for statute

Kathmandu, September 28. Chairman of the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Nepal (MJF-N) Upendra Yadav has blamed that the Constituent Assembly (CA) and its Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (CPDCC) have done nothing for constitution drafting process.

Speaking at the interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Sunday, yadav, who is also a member of the CA, said the CPDCC is just disseminating false information about consensus on minor issues of the constitution. According to yadav, all the issues which the Committee claimed it reached consensus on were already agreed in the dissolved CA.

Yadav claimed that both the Committee and full CA have not begun any discussion over key issues of the constitution including federalism, form of governance, electoral system and judiciary, speaking at the program presided by the Reporters’ Club Nepal’s president Rishi Dhamala.

Yadav strongly claimed that the nation cannot get a new constitution by January 22. He went on to state that his party will not accept the constitution if it is brought through voting process, and without consensus, in the CA. If such a constitution is issued, the party will resort to street protests for another constitution, he warned.

He also reiterated that the MJF-N does not accept north-south federal divisions.
On a different note, he commented that CK Raut’s demand for right to secession in the constitution is not contextual and his arrest is also unnecessary.

He demanded that the ruling parties agree on the December 24 four-point agreement to lift obstruction at the Parliament.
