Bista elected as FNJ president

Kathmandu, May 05. Mahendra Bista has been elected as the president of the Federation of the Nepali Journalist. Bista has defeated Poshan KC in the election held for presidency of the FNJ.

Bista defeated his rival KC with a margin of around 80 votes, he has been supported by the Press Chautari Nepal, Revolutionary Journalists Association and some other organisations of journalists loyal to communist parties. Similarly KC’s panel was supported by Nepal Press Union, an organisation of Nepali Congress.

Likewise Khil Bahadur Bhandari of Bista’s panel won  in the post of Vice-President. Bhandari has defeated to Ramji Dahal of Press Union. In the Vice-President under the inclusive category, however, Anita Bindu of KC’s panel made victory over Mahesh Das.

From the Bista’s Panel, Ujir Magar made the victory in the post of General Secretary. Magar has  defeated Jagat Nepal.

Suryamani Gautam from the same panel is elected in the post of Treasurer.

Bista will lead the organisation for next three years. He is associated with the Image Channel.

Majority of the newly elected office bearers and members belong to the Bista’s panel.
