Education Act (9th amendment) opens door to youths: State Minister Adhikari

Minister of State for Education Shesh Nath Adhikari

CHITWAN, Sept 24: Minister of State for Education Shesh Nath Adhikari has said the ninth amendment to the Education Act has paved the way for opportunities for those energetic youths who have obtained teaching license.

Defending the recent amendment that has drawn widespread criticism, Minister Adhikari said the amendment has made justice to all, rather those incapable temporary teachers would be ousted through it.

Talking to media persons here today, he said “Those temporary teachers failing to secure 40 numbers (pass mark) will be expelled, with a golden handshake scheme.”

There are around 26,000 temporary teachers across the country. Of them 10,500 have already applied for the golden handshake scheme, informed the State Minister.

State Minister Adhikari said that the Teacher Service Commission will appoint new teachers through examinations every year, while preparations were underway for holding examinations in this regard between Dashain and Tihar. RSS
