L.K. Advani Resigns From All Positions in BJP

NEW DELHI: Senior Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader L K Advani today quit all positions in the BJP. He resigned from BJP Parliamentary Board, Election Committee and National Executive.

Advani’s resignation comes a day after Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was appointed the chief of election campaign committee for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Advani submitted his resignation letter to BJP President Rajnath Singh.

“No longer I have the feeling that this is the same idealistic party created by Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, Deendayal Upadhyay and A B Vajpayee,” Advani said.

He also said most BJP leaders are concerned just with their personal agendas.

“I am finding it difficult to reconcile with either the functioning of the party or the direction in which it is going,” Advani said.
