Multi-national military exercise begins from today
KATHMANDU, March 20: Altogether 1024 military staffs from 28 countries are participating in the multi-national military exercise taking place at Birendra Peace Operation Training Center in Panchkhel, Kavre beginning from Today.
The multi-national military exercise named as Exercise Shanti Prayas III is co-sponsored by Nepal Army and US Army’s Asia Pacific Command will last until April 3rd.
The military exercise, which is being inaugurated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, is organized every year with an objective to boost interoperability and capacity in maintaining peace in the participants of the UN peace missions.
According to Colonel Prayog Jung Bahadur Rana, Nepal Army has arranged 49 trainers for the military exercise.
Military personnel from Nepal, Bangladesh, Bosnia Herzegovina, Cambodia, Ghana, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Mexico, Paraguay, Philippines, Pakistan, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Kirgizstan, Thailand, United States, Uruguay, Vietnam. Australia, Canada, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and the UK are participating in the joint military exercise.
The multi-national peace military exercise was held in Nepal in 2000 and 2013 (from March 19 to April 7) before.
