UML issues whip to party lawmakers not to leave the Capital till Jan-22

Kathmandu, Jan 12: The ruling party  CPN-UML has told its Constituent Assembly member not to leave the Capital till January 22–the deadline for promulgation of new constitution– and take part in the CA meeting that would resume tomorrow.

The whip was issued in its party’s Parliamentary Party meeting today. As the CA’s deadline for the promulgation of new constitution is just 10 days away, the meeting was held to prepare the party’s strategy in the CA.

The major political forces are yet to make headway against the crucial issues of new constitution. Chairman Oli, and senior leaders Jhala Nath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal briefed the Parliamentary Party about the ongoing negotiations with the political forces.

Saying the party would exhibit maximum flexibility in order to deliver the constitution by January 22, Oli said if consensus was elusive then there was no other option than following due process in the CA. For that, he directed the party lawmakers to be prepared.
