Journos end hunger strike after security assurance from adminstration



SURKHET: After the commitments from the officials and administration to provide full security to the working journalists, the displaced Dailekh-based journalists have cancelled their hunger strike program on Sunday evening that organized in regional administration office, Surkhet.

Twenty-two journalists of Dailekh had fled the district citing security threats from the UCPN (Maoist) cadres.

The displaced journalists from Dailekh and FNJ Surkhet chapter and the Mid-Western Coordination Committee of the FNJ had staged the hunger relay strike demanding professional security for journalists.

On Sunday, by releasing separate press statements, the government and UCPN (Maoist) had also urged the journalists to return to their workstation and work without any threat.

Similarly, journalists across the country have been organizing various programs demanding their security while journalists in some district have even boycotted the programs of Prime Minister and other government officials.
