KATHMANDU: Newly nominated General Secretary of the ruling UCPN Maoist has clarified that the proposal to form consensus government in the premiership of incumbent Chief Justice, is party’s official decision.

General Secretary Bogati said that the proposal was presented in the General Convention of the party after being endorsed by the General Convention organising committee and asserted that the proposal is therefore party’s official stance on the issue, while speaking at an interaction program organised by the Reporters Club Nepal on Sunday.

In his debut press meet after being promoted to the post, Bogati said that the recent media reports claiming otherwise by quoting his party chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal were baseless.

Backing the proposal to form the consensus government in the CJ’s leadership, he provided reference to such an incidence in Bangladesh where the CJ had led such a government for holding CA elections.

Speaking further at the program presided by the Club’s President Rishi Dhamala, Bogati even claimed that the opposition parties were positive on the proposal and claimed that a consensus in that direction could be expected by the end of this week.

Refuting claims that the Bhattarai government had been sticking to power, Bogati who is also Minister for Aviation and Tourism in the incumbent government, said that the Bhattarai government will step aside as soon as the opposition parties endorse their proposal and pave way to form consensus government.

Bogati added that this was his party’s last option rolled out to resolve the ongoing status quo and warned that if the opposition do not accept it, his party won’t be coming up with other alternatives in the future.
