Civil society leaders including Dhungana against CJ-led government

KATHMANDU: Rights defenders and civil society leaders have voiced against the CJ-led election government by issuing a press statement on Thursday.

Issuing a press release, former Speaker Daman Nath Dhungana, Prof Dr Birendra Prasad Mishra, Charan Prasain and Kanak Mani Dixit have said that formation of the CJ-led government disheartening.

‘We urge the political parties to take decision with conscience in regard to the appointment of a person entrusted with a prime responsibility of establishing rule of law to the PM would not be in line with the Interim Constitution, independence of judiciary and human rights’, states the press release.

They also feared that the CJ-led government would tarnish the image and credibility of the Chief Justice.
