NC President directs party members for not opposing CJ-led government
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala has directed party leaders for not protesting against the understanding to form electoral government in the leadership of Chief Justice Khilaraj Regmi.
Koirala summoned all senior leaders of the party, including Sher Bahadur Deuba, Ram Chandra Paudel, Krishna Prasad Sitauala, at his residence on Sunday and asked them to support the understanding.
He argued that the opportunity to form a electoral government in the leadership of Chief Justice is an exciting opportunity to oust the Bhattarai government, which he claimed was turning out totalitarian day by day.
Responding to some leaders arguement that some conditions should be forwarded to form the CJ government, Koirala said that forwarding conditions would be not acceptable to the Chief Justice.
Koirala maintained that his party would not forward any conditions for the Chief Justice to accept claiming that it might the Chief Justice resulting in the loss of an opportunity to end the totalitarian rule of the Bhattarai government.
Some leaders in the meeting had stressed on keeping provisions that would secure democracy in the long run.
