General convention of YAN begins

BUTWAL: The eighth general convention of Youth Association Nepal (YAN) has kicked off in Butwal today. The general convention would pick up the new leadership of the YAN for three years.

So far, incumbent chairman Mahesh Basnet, vice-chairman Jhapat Rawal and general secretary Niraj Acharya have announced their candidacy for the post of chairman of the UML aligned organization.

Basent is a blue-eyed boy of UML leader KP Oli while Acharya has a strong backing from UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal.

UML Chairman Khanal, vice chairman Bamdev Gautam, senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, standing committee member KP Sharma Oli, secretaries Shankar Pokhrel, Yubraj Gyawali and Bishnu Poudel and others leader leaders are scheduled to address the program.

Nearly 1,500 representatives and observers are attending the program.
