KATHMANDU: Like other political parties in Nepal, the CPN-Maoist, many dub it as radical communist party, also shifted its voice after talking with the envoys, and the leaders of the party said they were ready to take part in the upcoming CA elections.

Recently, the Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist leaders had warned to boycott the CA elections.

The CPN-Maoist leaders said this after a meeting with the ambassadors of the European Union (EU) in Nepal on Friday. The EU ambassadors met the CPN-Maoist leaders at the party’s central office and urged them to participate in the new CA election.

“Our response was that the party was not in favor of the CJ-led election government”, CP Gajurel who is also the party’s foreign bureau chief said.

After the meeting, Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Thomas Gass said election was the only alternative to institutionalizing democracy and achieving political stability. Ambassadors of Switzerland, Britain, France, Germany and Denmark were present in the meeting.

Party General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa was with Gajurel during the meeting.
