PM to convince CJ to lead poll government
KATHMANDU: After Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi’s dilemma on whether or not to soldier the CA polls government, the major political parties have given responsibility to the prime minister to convince CJ Regmi to lead the poll government.
A meeting of the four major political forces—UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and Madhesi Morcha took a decision to this end.
According to the leaders, the prime minister would convince the CJ based on the parties’ agreement made so far to end the constitutional and legal hassles regarding the CJ-led government.
However, a source said that in today’s meeting UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ opined to end up the parties’ exercise to form the CJ-led election government and proposed to give the shape of national unity to the current Bhattarai-led government.
The meeting was held at the Army Integration Special Committee Secretariat.
After the meeting, Nepali Congress Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel said that the parties would start afresh talk from tomorrow if the CJ formally rebuffs the PM’s proposal.
Likewise, Madhesi Morcha’s coordinator Bijay Kumar Gachhadar said that the leaders have agreed to wait till 3 PM tomorrow
