KATHMANDU: Provided that all constitutional and legal obstacles were cleared, the sitting Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi has given a nod to the top leaders of major parties to lead the election government.

At a meeting with the top leaders of major political forces this morning, CJ Regmi said agreed to take the charge of election council as the top leaders said that country’s political situation would further deepen if the CJ denies to lead the election government.

During the meeting, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ had proposed the CJ to head the government as all major parties were ready for his leadership to hold the elections on time.

However, the CJ has disagreed to form a political mechanism, a proposal floated by the leaders to assist the election government in felicitating timely CA elections.

Likewise, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai also asked the CJ to take the command of the election government stating that he would not handover the key of government to anybody else  except the CJ.
