Major forces continuing talks, deal expected today to form CJ-led govt
KATHMANDU: A meeting of major four political powers—UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and Madhesi Morcha—is underway at the Secretariat of the Army Integration Special Committee.
Nepal’s major political parties despite their agreement to form an election government under the leadership of the sitting Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi are still at odds to strike a deal.
The meeting is expected to iron out all the thorniest issues pertaining to top post given to the ex Maoist combatants who are already integrated in to the Nepal Army and the formation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
However, nearly 20 fringe parties including those represented in the disbanded CA and Nepal’s most radical communist party CPN-Maoist have challenged the major parties’ homework to form the CJ-led government. They also announced to protest if the CJ was given the leadership of the new government.
