Gripped by election fever, Nepal’s semi-communist party calls CC meet today

CPN UML Chairman Jhalnath Khanal

KATHMANDU: Gripped by election fever, Nepal’s quasi-communist party CPN (UML) is holding its central committee meeting today. The meeting is expected to discuss the party’s strategy after the formation of the Chief Justice-led interim election council.

The UML that had claimed to stand the first in the previously held CA election was limited in the third position, nearly less than half of the former rebel Maoist party in size, by losing in major constituencies.

During the meeting, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal is scheduled to inform the party leaders after the formation of the new government under the leadership of Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi.
